Dès sa graduation en production cinématographique et télévisuelle en 2012, il collabore au sein d'un collectif où il signe le scénario et la co-réalisation du court-métrage Libre-Service. Celui-ci est présenté au festival de film international 24 hour film race et se mérite plus d’une dizaine de prix dont "choix du public" lors de sa projection montréalaise et "meilleure réalisation" lors de sa projection new-yorkaise clôturant le festival avec le premier prix de 10 000$.
En 2018, son pilote du projet de web-série fantastique Bloodtears est diffusé au Festival Fantasia de Montréal, puis il est sélectionné à nouveau trois and plus tard pour faire partie du programme “Shorts to Features” du Marché Frontières de Fantasia en partenariat avec le Marché de Cannes. Un an plus tard son scénario de long-métrage Cadillac Deception remporte le prix du meilleur scénario action/aventure au Cannes Screenplay Contest et obtient un accord d’achat de la part de High Star Entertainment à Toronto. À la fin de 2020, il complète le moyen métrage Les Aspirants qu’il produit et réalise de manière indépendante.
À l'été 2021 Jean-Paul est sélectionné en tant que cinéaste pour réaliser son court-métrage Finding Feodan dans la cadre du KABARET SPASM en vue du Festival SPASM de la même année. Le film fait également partie de l’édition 2022 du Festival Fantasia, du Burbank International Film Festival, du 56th Houston WorldFest International Film Festival et du Festival de cinéma de la ville de Québec pour ne nommer que ceux-ci. En avril 2022 il est invité à présenter son projet de websérie “Starman” au Rendez-vous Pro du festival Rendez-Vous Québec Cinéma, puis il est invité à faire patrie d’une cohorte de 10 scénaristes lors d’un maillage organisé en collaboration avec la SODEC lors du Festival Fantasia de la même année. Plus récemment il à été sélectionneé au "Pitchs premières oeuvres" du FNC en collaboration avec Netflix et Eurimages pour y présenter son scénario de long-métrage “Cadillac Deception”.
Parallèlement à ses ambitions de cinéaste, il travaille en tant que caméraman pour des boîtes de productions tels que KoTV, Zone 3, Trio Orange et Sphère Média. En plus d’avoir travaillé sur plus de 150 productions à ce jour, il s’efforce toujours de faire avancer et faire produire ses divers projets allant de série documentaire jusqu’au long métrage de fiction.
As soon as he graduated in film and television production in 2012, he collaborated in a collective where he wrote the screenplays and co-directed the short film Libre-Service. The film wins more then 10 awards at the "International 24 hour film Race" such as the "audience choice" at the Montreal screening and "best director" at the New York finals closing the festival with the top prize of $10,000.
In 2018, his pilot of the fantasy web-series project Bloodtears screened at the Montreal Fantasia Festival, then is selected again to be part of the "Shorts to Features" program at the Marché Frontières in 2021 in association with the Marché de Cannes. A year later, his feature film script Cadillac Deception won Best Action/Adventure Screenplay at the Cannes Screenplay Contest and secured a purchase agreement from High Star Entertainment in Toronto. At the end of 2020, he completed the medium-length film Les Aspirants ( the Contenders ), which he directed and produced independently.
In the summer of 2021 Jean-Paul was selected to direct his short film Finding Feodan as part of KABARET SPASM for the SPASM Festival of the same year. The film is also part of the 2022 edition of the Fantasia Festival, the Burbank International Film Festival, the 56th Houston WorldFest International Film Festival and the Quebec City Film Festival just to name a few.
